From The Analects
Confucius
The Analects were written by Confucius, a great Chinese philosopher who lived in the fifth century B.C. The Analects reflect an extensive diversity of thoughts that Confucius established. His teachings became an important standard of Chinese society. In this text, the author tries to tell how a real leader or governor should behave in order to maintain peace and happiness in the country. A wise leader governs his people by moral force not by regulations.
It is important to say that according to The Analects, it is very valuable to respect parents and do what they say. If we behave correctly, our parents will never worry about us. Knowledge is when you know a thing and you recognize that you know it, and when you do not know a thing and you recognize you do not know it. Wise persons are not the ones who think they know it all. We have to learn from good men and try to equal them.
The Master said, to demand much from oneself and little from others is the way (for a ruler) to banish discontent. We have to give the best of us every single day, without expecting anything from other persons. People have to understand that they should study to be better not to impress others. Confucius also says that we must plan our future from right now. Keeping these advices in mind can help considerably to improve.
